>"Am I Stuck?" The Checklist

The Process

Write On MBA starts our collaboration with an initial consultation (by phone or email) to determine precisely which service will best address your goal(s). The initial consultation with Dr. Averill begins with a description of your issue (as you see it) and what you hope to accomplish through your relationship with us.

Dr. Averill will use this time to ask informed questions and take notes used to help you with focus and/or organization. Our clients often send a copy of their assignment/work or a list of their ideas in advance of the first consultation.

With this information, we evaluate what you are currently doing well and then we discuss recommendations for how to move forward -- building on your strengths by adding new skill sets. Sessions typically end with the development of an action plan detailing what you can reasonably accomplish by the next scheduled session.

Since privacy is important to some clients, we give you a written copy of our Privacy Policy when we begin our work.

Dr. Averill is happy to schedule half hour or 50 minute sessions in person or by phone, whichever is most convenient.

Our clients find that as we work together their distress decreases— whether they’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed about the work, confused or disorganized. At the end of a project, our clients often remark that they haven't just completed the work they set out to do... but have learned important new lessons about how to approach these tasks into the future!

Fees & Billing

Write On MBA works to shape a program specifically for you. For this reason, we offer a complimentary half hour coaching session so that we can get to know you and you can experience how we work and have a chance to ask your questions. Fees vary depending on:

  • how often you access services (in person or by email),
  • how long our sessions last, and
  • how much manuscript review, editing, or formatting you want.

Fees are billed in advance for the coming month and can be paid by check, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card.

15 THINGS PEOPLE SAY ABOUT BEING STUCK IN THEIR WRITING

I just can’t find the time in the day to work on it.

I settle down to write and nothing comes.

When I’ve worked on it for a while I look back and think that this will never be acceptable or that it’s worthless.

I really intended to work on it today but I kept getting distracted, sometimes even by little things.

I like to do most of my work in my head, then write, but I’m under pressure to show some concrete progress.

I find my self doing anything but writing.

I know I have to finish this but I’m having trouble even getting up in the morning.

I can’t seem to get organized or to find the focus I need for my topic.

Initially I thought this was an interesting topic, but now I just feel bored.

I do write but my writing seems "all over the place," not as coherent a whole as I’d like it to be.

The whole thing just seems so overwhelming, I can’t imagine how I’ll ever get it done.

I’ve always wanted to be a writer and I do have some good ideas, but I just don’t know if I can do it.

The other work or family demands in my life don’t leave me much time for writing or for the research I need to do on this.

I can do the work but I get really discouraged. I’m not sure what’s good and what isn’t. What I really need is some encouragement.

The writing I can do. It’s the forms, the paperwork, dealing other people who have a say about this that gives me problems.
